Hilo Muni undergoes major work Monday
The county Department of Park and Recreation will shorten the Hilo Municipal Golf Course and open temporary greens starting Monday, Feb. 8.
This action is being undertaken so golfers may continue using portions of the course while the links are undergoing major renovation. The partial closure is expected to last until mid-May.

Hawaii state junior golf sign-ups
The Hawaii State Junior Golf Association’s (HSJGA) 2016 membership registration is now open and welcoming new and returning members. To register, visit www.HSJGA.org.
HSJGA membership is open to male and female junior golfers who meet the following qualifications:
• Are between the ages of 7-18 by July 15, 2016
• Have not reached their 19th birthday and have not entered college
Annual membership is from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. The annual membership fee is $35.

Deadline Saturday for Haili girls tourney
Haili Girls Tournament will be played at the Hilo Armory from Feb. 15-21 with adult and junior divisions. Contact person is Lyndell Lindsey who can be reached at 961-3633 during the work day. There is an entry fee. The entry deadline is Saturday, Feb. 6.
The 59th Annual Haili Volleyball Tournament will be played on seven courts at four sites in the Hilo area from March 21-26. There will be Junior and Adult Divisions. An application for entry can be downloaded from the website Hailivolleyball.com. There is an entry fee. The contact person is again Lyndell Lindsey, who can be reached at 961-3633 during the workday. The entry deadline for this tournament is also Feb. 6.
